Portchester outline ‘friendly’ schedule for new season

By Connor Steel

AFC PORTCHESTER have announced a sequence of interesting pre-season friendlies as they continue to prepare for their upcoming 2024-25 Wessex League Premier campaign; the club outlining that they will play a total of seven games versus a mixture of higher and lower division sides throughout July before the first match of the season in early August.

New manager Gav Spurway will start his new tenure at the club on July 6 as the Royals will play Camberley; the game being hosted at Havant & Waterlooville’s ground with a 1:30pm kick off. They are then scheduled to play two away ties versus Petersfield Town on July 9 (7:45pm) and Wick FC four days later on July 13; thus ending the 1st week of action.

A trip to Chichester City will follow at Oaklands Park on July 16 before another away game against Alton FC three days later on July 19 (Friday); both of these two encounters set to start from 7:45pm. Infinity are further expected to host the Royals four days later in the final midweek friendly on July 23; this trip arguably being the longest of these six matches.

The Royals are set to conclude their pre-season diary with a home game versus their former league rivals Shaftesbury FC, which is scheduled to take place on July 27 with a 3pm kick off at the On-Site Group Stadium. This will provide the supporters with an opportunity to see the team before they start the season, as well as the final stadium improvements.

Supporters are reminded that these games can be changed and even cancelled at short notice; the club stating that all updates will be confrmed on their website and social media when it is required. Little details have been given about the release of 2024-25 fixtures by the Wessex League management teams, but fans are asked to check regularly for news.
